04 / 100 percent para-aramid

Woven Aramid Fabric

Para-aramid woven cloth across an 11-model weight range, from a light PA50 through to a heavy PA450. Used for helmet shells, soft armor, hard plates, vehicle panels, and beyond ballistics in aerospace, construction reinforcement and automotive parts.

  • Width 1 to 3 m made to order. Roll length 50 m and up. Uncoated as standard.
  • As with the woven UHMWPE line, no layer count or protection level is published for woven aramid. Tell us the weight and yarn you want and we will quote the cloth.

How it is made

From yarn to a woven roll

Para-aramid yarn is loaded onto a creel and drawn into a flat sheet on the warping line before it reaches the loom, where it is woven plain or twill depending on the model. The woven cloth runs uncoated as standard, and is inspected for width, weight and surface before winding into rolls.

Where the strength comes from

Why para-aramid holds up under heat and load

Para-aramid fiber combines high tensile strength with heat resistance that UHMWPE does not have, which is why this line covers such a wide weight range: light PA50 for helmet linings, heavier PA300 to PA450 for hard plates and vehicle panels. As with woven UHMWPE, we do not publish a ballistic protection level for the cloth on its own, since panel performance depends on the lay-up and pressing process at your plant.

FAQ

Common questions on Woven Aramid Fabric

What is the difference between plain and twill weave?

Models below PA140 are plain weave only. PA140 and up can be woven plain or twill. Tell us which you need when you order.

Why is there no protection level listed?

Panel performance depends on the number of layers and the pressing process at your plant, not on the fabric alone. We publish the fabric specification and leave protection testing to your own panel build.

What roll widths are available?

1 to 3 m, made to order. Roll length is 50 m and up, uncoated as standard.
